Hair accessories - the new fashion must have for next season

Up until now the must have accessory was either the “it” handbag or statement costume jewellery, but next season we see a huge trend towards hair accessories being a real must have for any fashionista.

Hair accessories come in many different styles, shapes, colours and designs and we have just about anything for anyone’s taste. We stock hair combs, hair slides, hair claws, hair pins, hair chopsticks, tiaras and hair bands.

Why not try adding a gorgeous little sparkle hair slide to your luscious loose locks, or wear a hair comb in a French pleat on your wedding. For little girls we have the beautiful mini winged beauty hair claw, or for bridesmaids the gorgeous sparkly crystal hair band. For those of you who like to have your hair up and out of the way, wear your hair up in a pony whilst sparkling with a stunning crystal pony holder.

Hair accessories can be worn in so many different ways for so many different occasions. And, as you can see, it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg (unlike the “it” bags of last season!) so you can be trendy whilst not having to pay a fortune.

Wedding Hairstyles

The way your hair is going to look on your big day is really important and will really finish off your look. The best way to decide this is to look at your face shape and go with a style that really suits it.

Round face: Round faces look best when hair is kept down or swept to one side. Make sure you accessorise the look well- something like the Bloom hair claw would look great!

Oval face: You are really lucky if you have an oval face as any style would look great! Try having elegant curls with a gorgeous hair comb worn as a tiara or even a French chignon with little hair pins elegantly placed all over your hair.

Long faces: Avoid having your hair down if this describes your face shape. Try big voluminous curls with a gorgeous tiara. And avoid a hair cut that is too short.

Square face: Square faces look best with short hair styles so accessorise with a gorgeous little hair slide. Add wispy curls for a dramatic look

Whatever your face shape and personal style is, just make sure you are comfortable with the way you look on your special day!

Any advice for brides-to-be, place a comment below!

  1. Set a budget for your accessories and allow for a 15% leeway over your budget just in case you see the perfect pieces which are a little over your budget.
  2. Feel free to wear costume jewellery. The price for costume pieces versus the authentic equivalent is much less, and costume jewels look just as good as the real thing.
  3. Spend time looking around before you buy any of your accessories. Finding the right sparkle to finish off your outfit can often take longer than expected.
  4. It’s best to keep your costume jewellery simple: you don’t want it to compete with your dress. However, if your dress is simple, more intricate jewellery is perfectly acceptable.
  5. Choose a necklace according to the shape of the neckline. For example, square necks work well with curved necklaces so try a choker or opt for statement earrings instead.
  6. What you decide to wear on your head will be determined by your dress. The traditional silver tiara is still very popular, or opt for combs worn on the side of the head
  7. Take hair combs and hair clips with you when choosing your wedding veil. Not all wedding veils look the same when these accessories are added.
  8. Shoes are very important accessories. They need to be comfortable, non-slip and with a heel to complement both your height and the dress
  9. Be sure to take your outfit with you when shopping for the accessories. This way, you can try everything on together to get the full effect.
  10. Finally, look for jewellery that comes beautifully gift-wrapped and gift boxed. This will help you treasure your big day for years to come.
