In the past year or so we have seen costume jewellery go from being a small fashion accessory, to the focus of your entire outfit. And costume jewellery seems to be becoming even chunkier and more of a statement fashion accessory as trends are evolving.
This season’s catwalks see dainty costume jewelry being teamed with more chunky costume jewellery, which helps to create a real look of elegance. There’s also the classic look where an entire outfit is just accessorised with stacking cocktail rings on top of one another, or just wearing one big cocktail ring, like the large crystal rectangle cocktail ring. And finally cuff bracelets seem to still be a huge trend on the catwalks, except they are much more intricately designed, like the Grecian crystal cuff bracelet or the garland of crystals cuff bracelet.
We are going o keep you updated as the fashion news comes in so keep a look out on our blog for key jewellery trends for autumn/winter 09.

Fashion jewellery is jewellery that is following a current trend. That is, what trends have been passed from the catwalks to the high street that will be ever changing. This type of fashion jewellery can range from wooden cuff bracelets, beaded necklaces or large chunky rings.
Fashion jewellery also includes designer jewellery like Pilgrim jewellery or Mikey jewellery. But this is not always the case as many other companies also sell fashion jewellery to encompass a range of exciting new designs like necklace and earring sets and hair accessories that are designed in house and are exclusive to the company, like Shefaly | House of Jewels, making it designer jewellery too.

As far as wedding jewellery goes, wedding bracelets are an important part of your outfit whether you are the bride, bridesmaid or mother-of-the-bride. Wedding bracelets come in many different styles, shapes and colours.
You can go for crystal wedding bracelet, like the Romance her wedding bracelet as that one is very elegant and can match more or less any necklace or earrings. Or you could go for a cuff bracelet like the Grecian cuff bracelet in crystal, which is so stylish and beautiful. Or if you are on a bit of a budget, go for a stretch bracelet like the Crystal Beauty bracelet.

As far as costume jewellery goes you can think of it as falling into one of two categories: sparkly jewellery or fashion jewellery. Sparkly jewellery would encompasses costume jewelry that contains crystals like Swarovski crystal and Austrian crystal and would be a lot more bling as far as costume jewellery is concerned. Fashion jewellery is less bling, and more orientated around what fashion dictates at the time.
So for example, at present, sparkly costume jewellery would include such items as a crystal necklace, or a crystal cocktail ring. However, fashion jewellery would be items such as wooden bracelets, or beaded necklace. It can also include less sparkly cocktail rings or cuff bracelets.
What you decide to wear as costume jewelry is up to you as fashion is what you make it.

Autumn/Winter 2008 sees statement of giant jewels being a must have accessory, and the easiest and cheapest way to accessorise your outfits. The catwalks have seen breathtaking pieces of jewellery including Burberry’s bright neck pieces and the now famous Dries Von Noten’s bracelet collar: colourful large bangles threaded around the neck.

Bangles continue to be a real trend and have gained a fashionista following in the past year. Chunky bangles and cuffs have been seen on all catwalks for next season. But jewellery cuffs can be cheap and cheerful, especially since costume jewellery is coming back with a vengeance. Statement bangles and cuffs can be worn at the wrist or on the upper arm. Bangles can dress up any outfit from a t-shirt and jeans to a little black dress.
Will the trend continue into autumn/winter months? If so what will the style and colour be?
As far a jewellery trends go for Autumn/Winter 2008-2009, Bangles are a must have for every jewellery box. Choose from narrow bangles to wide deep cuffs. Bangles and cuffs that contain crystals are a very glamorous alternative to the Summer trend of plastic and wooden bangles. The main colour trend for next season will be blues and lilacs with red undertones, moving away from the traditional autumn subdued and quiet colours. Carribean blue opal is seen as a very popular colour for jewellery and accessories next season.
