The television equivalent of the Academy Awards is happening today and we are so excited! We can’t wait to see all those glamorous television stars on the red carpet wearing their stunning gowns and costume jewellery and fashion jewellery. Ok, so their crystal jewellery will be real diamonds, but we do see the odd costume jewellery piece on a celebrity or two.

We can’t wait to see what Eva Longoria Parker will wear this year, or even Sandra Oh from Greys Anatomy. But we do think the trend of large statement necklaces that’s look like collar necklaces, which we have seen on next season’s catwalks, will be a real trend. Also, following on from the VMA’s we think we will see chandelier earrings, or just crystal earrings paired up with a cuff bracelet or a cocktail ring.

Look out for our blog tomorrow on all the costume jewellery and fashion jewellery updates from the red carpet!

Diamonds used to be a girl’s best friend, and now due to the recession and all other factors, costume jewellery is slowly becoming a girl’s best friend instead.

Whether it’s for your mum, a girlfriend, a bridesmaid, bride or even your father or boyfriend, costume jewellery can be one of the greatest gifts you can give to them. The gift can be a cocktail ring, a bracelet or even a necklace and earring set. Costume jewellery can look so very expensive yet not cost you an arm and a leg.

Costume jewelry can be treasured for many years after given as a present as well and can be passed on through the generations too.

Costume jewellery must haves for every girl

Costume jewellery is essential for every girl or boy to have in their jewellery box and I thought I’d write a little blog to help make sure you have all the essentials that can match anything in your wardrobe, whether it is bracelets, earrings or cocktail rings.

Even costume jewellery does change with the trends on the catwalks; there are some essentials you should have. Firstly, every girl should have a few gorgeous cocktail rings. And if you are worried about the trends changing and therefore your cocktail rings going out of fashion, try going for a few key colours like black cocktail rings, crystal cocktail rings or gold cocktail rings. Get these costume jewellery rings in a few different designs and you are sorted to wear to work or out for a special evening.

Another piece of essential costume jewellery is bracelets. This can come in many different styles and shapes. They can be stretchy bracelets, cuff bracelets, dainty bracelets or pearl bracelets. Have a look through your wardrobe and see what style would go best with your clothes and invest in buying a couple of costume jewellery bracelets.

The last essential piece of jewellery you should have is chandelier earrings. Chandelier earrings can really pull any outfit from ordinary to stunning, whether you are wearing jeans or your little black dress! Try making sure you have a pair of black chandelier earrings and a pair of crystal chandelier earrings in your jewellery box.

Costume jewellery can come in so many different styles, shapes and colours, but when considering a fine piece of costume jewellery quality is of utmost importance. For example, when buying cocktail rings, there are many out there that you can be for £10.00 or less but these are guaranteed to break or stones fall out of them within a couple of weeks of you wearing the product! That is why the House of Jewel’s costume jewellery is generally of such high quality. In addition, we have bought in an extra exquisite range of costume jewellery called the Anjouxxx Collection.

This exclusive range of costume jewellery is designed with Cameron Diaz & Catherine Zeta-Jones in mind. Its style is opulent and of the highest quality. The costume jewellery is hand crafted, many from sterling silver, and contains glass crystals, Swarovski crystals or Austrian Crystals. The elegant and dazzling designs compliment the use of these stones, and is the type of costume jewellery you can pass onto a loved one.

The prices for this range can be expected to be at a premium due to the additional attributes provided, but we are sure that it is worth it!  This range is exclusive to our website only, designed exclusively by Shefaly (now a registered trade mark), and named after someone special in her life.

The Anjouxxx collection costume jewellery was initially made as Asian bridal jewellery or English wedding jewellery. However, this type of costume jewellery is also fabulous as evening wear for parties, especially costume jewellery for Christmas parties or balls and even proms! They can also be matched up with so many other types of costume jewellery like cocktail rings or bracelets that are available. So even though you may be paying a premium for this collection of costume jewellery, you can wear it so many times that the cost becomes minute in relation to the wears you can get out of it!

(Please note that Anjouxxx collection cocktail rings are not adjustable to fit and require a large, medium or small ring size to be stated at checkout).

This range has without a doubt made a movement of a new trend!

Costume jewellery necklace and earring sets can be worn on just about any occasion, whether it’s your own wedding day, someone else’s wedding day, a special evening out or for your birthday celebration.

We have recently introduced a new costume jewellery necklace and earring set called Crystal Beauty Necklace and Earring set. This comes in two more colours, pink and champagne. Made from acrylic stones and Cubic Zirconia crystals, this set can really add extra glamour to any outfit. And because the colours are very demure it really is a very elegant set. The acrylic stones earrings make sure that the earrings are not too heavy (as would be the case with Swarovski stoned earrings) and therefore are great for those of you who cannot tolerate heavy earrings. The necklace can fit on any neck size as it is adjustable with a lobster clasp at the back.

Try pairing it up with a gorgeous cocktail ring or bracelet to really stand out on you special occasion.

Credit Crunch – what should you do?

All we ever hear about right now is the credit crunch, high employment rates and house prices falling. It has been a very depressing week, what with one of the top banks in the USA, Lehman Brothers, filing for bankruptcy and AIG insurance group needing a helping hand from the US Government. All this however is not scaring off costume jewellery buyers for small to medium (and even large!) retailers, and you too should not be worried as there are ways in which you can make costume jewellery work for you.

Costume jewellery in general is not expensive, and if it is it rarely exceeds £150-£200. So if you are considering a change of look for the coming season, save some money and don’t update your wardrobe with loads of new clothes, instead buy key pieces and update your daily look with costume jewellery pieces.

The House of Jewels suggests buying lace blouses, cropped cardigans, tailored trousers and gorgeous platform pumps. These can be updated to change your look with statement cocktail rings, large chunky necklaces and gorgeous statement bracelets. All this will mean that you don’t have to break the bank to look fashionable all winter long!
