This coming Spring/Summer 2010 is all about pastel colours as we have seen from the recent awards ceremonies like the Grammys and the Golden Globes. And so it got us thinking, what type of costume jewellery would you wear with such colours? Colours like white, very light pinks and blues and greens were all the rage on the red carpet.

Well the most obvious choice would be clear crystal costume jewellery. Costume jewellery that is purely crystals and does not have AB crystals or anything similar on it. The sad and tragic news that Lee McQueen the founder of Alexander McQueen clothing, shoes and fashion and costume jewellery was found dead in his apartment in London has hit the headlines today. The cause of his death is unknown, and his family and friends have asked for privacy whilst they deal with this tragic news.

Not long ago McQueen’s mother died and a lot of people were suggesting that it hit him hard. Also pressures to create and surpass his last few shows also seem to have had an impact on his mood. He is however undeniably at the forefront of British fashion, and although he never actually created pieces or costume jewellery or shoes specifically for celebrities, he did have many celebrities flock to him to make them bespoke pieces, like Lady GaGa’s recent lobster claw shoes in her Bad Romance video.

Whatever the future of the McQueen Empire holds, it will be sure to stay in the forefront of fashion and of costume jewellery, and he will be sorely missed amongst the fashion community as a true inspiration in the field.
